J.E. "BO” Burton passed away Friday May 15, 2015 at the Blue River Healthcare Nursing Home in Tishomingo at the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 3 days. BO was born on April 12, 1925 in Marietta, OK to William Henry Burton and Lelly Mae Hughes.

 BO attended school in Marietta and at the age of 15 began playing music at the local KMADradio station for several years.  On January 13, 1951 in Gainesville, Texas BO married the loved of his life, Zelma Rae Carlisle and made their home in Calisburg. BO worked as a school bus driver and janitor for 45 years for the Ravia Public School System. BO also had several other jobs such as, he drove a dump trump in Oklahoma City, and also had a job on the railroad in Argyle, Texas.

 BO, in his early years was an avid coon hunter and trained jumping mules for hunting and was well known throughout the state as a coon hunter. BO was a member of the Coon Hunters Association. BO was a music enthusiast and participated and won many fiddle music contnest. He could just about any instrument, but he had a special love for the fiddle and the guitar.

BO was preceded in death by both of his parents.

2 sisters, “Munks” Rosie Thurman, and Viola Buckaloo. Brother Willard Burton and one great grandchild Tayson Burton.

Funeral services will be held on Monday 18 at 2pm at the Ravia Baptist Church with Rev Frank Wallace officiating assited by Sister Kay Williams Interment will follow in the Ravia Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12pm to 8pm on Sunday at the funeral home.

Serving as Pallbearers for the service will be Mr. Burton’s Grandsons, Shannon Gibson; Shane, Burton; Clayton Gibson; Jeffery Burton; Trevor Burton; Beau Duke.

Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be, Ray Brooks Harrison Bond.

Visitation will be held from 12pm to 8pm on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be to the Ravia or the Mannsville Senior Citizens.
