James David Castoe SR. of Connerville passed from this life on Thursday June 22, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 91 years. James was born on February 14, 1926 in Dougherty, OK to the late Sammy Castoe and Rebeca Louise Wallace. James attended school in Dougherty and later joined the United States Navy where he served as Petty Officer 1st Class. James met and married Anna (Langwell) Castoe. She preceded him in death on February 22, 2006. James moved to Johnston County 12 years ago from Seminole, OK. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, he loved his family and his 4 dogs. 

James leaves behind to cherish his memory:

Son:                    James Castoe JR. and wife Debra of Connerville, OK

Grandson that Mr. Castoe raised:                      Mark Smith and wife Susie of Dickson, OK

Brothers:             Chester Castoe of Lakeview, AR

                           John Castoe of Oklahoma City, OK

James is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of many friends.

James was preceded in death by:

Sisters:            Polly Upchurch

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2pm at the Ravia Baptist Church with Reverend Trent Maness assisted by Reverend Roger Hartwell. Interment will follow in the Little Cemetery north of Seminole. Serving as casket escorts will be; Tim Smith, Brian Smith, Don Inslee, Tim Guard, James Byers, Jim Newman and Curtis Parker. The family will receive family and friends on Monday evening from 7 - 9 pm.
