Norris Hugh Box, known better to his family and friends as "Stokes" was born on June 19, 1936 in Marshall County to the late Wiliam Pearlie Box and Mittie Lee Raley. On Monday afternoon January 19, 2015 at his home in Dickson Norris was surrounded by his family and he passed from this life and went to be with his Lord at the age of 78 years. Norris was raised here in the southern Oklahoma area but moved to Grand Prairie, Texas for some time, but later came back home to Oklahoma in 1991 where he lived the remainder of his life. Norris attended the Dallas County Sheriff's Training Academy where he became a police officer. Mr. Box was also a maintenance man for several oilfield companies. Norris's family says that he will always be remembered as loving father, a dad that loved to spend time with his family, a plain & simple man, loved his grandchildren, he never met a stranger. His family aslo says that Norris loved his lawnmowers and that he loved to mow. Norris married the loved of his life, Norma Helms Box on August 07, 1961 in Tishomingo where she stood beside him throughout their entire marriage in love and she survives him of the home. He is also survived by 2 sons, Michael Box & wife Susie of Arlington, Texas, Norris G. Box & wife Rita of Ardmore, Oklahoma, 4 daughters, Marcella Box of Grand Prairie, Texas, Lynett Pirtle & husband Keith of Grand Prairie, Texas, Deborah Box of Dickson, Oklahoma & Tina Box of Roanoke, Texas. Norris is also survived by 2 sisters, Lillian Stayton of Red Oak, Texas & Judy Harris & husband Curtis of Milburn, Oklahoma. Norris is also survived by 8 wonderful grandchildren, Courtney Box, Michelle Hodges, Mellisa Breaux, Ricky Breaux, Candis Box, Chris Pirtle, Misty Ezell & Dustin Box. Mr. Box is also survived numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren. Norris is survived by a very special Sister-In-Law Betty Bailey of Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by both his parents, 2 brothers, Floyd Box & William R. Box and 2 sisters Mildred Box, Bobbie Lee. Graveside services will be held Wednesday January 21 at 2pm in McMillan Cemetery west of Madill with Dr. Walt Spradling officiating. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Chris Pirtle, Ricky Breaux, David Ezell, Dustin Box, Keith Pirtle, Pete Harris, & Steve Blevins.
