On Wednesday morning March 15, 2017 Richard John Johnson was surrounded by his family at his home in Willis when he stepped into Heaven at the age of 61 years, 5 months, & 3 days. Richard was born October 12, 1955 in Moriety, New Mexico to Myrtle E. (Mitchell) Johnson & the late John Miller Johnson Jr.
Richard attended & graduated high school from Los Lunas High School in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Upon graduating Richard joined the United States Army where he served in the Calvary. After receiving a honorable discharge from the military Richard went to work as a cowboy & truck driver, with his most recent job being a driver at Cyclone Truck. Richard met & married Peggy Culwell in Guymon, Oklahoma on September 19, 1979, from that union came three wonderful children whom Richard cared & loved very much.
Some of the things Richard enjoyed doing were team roping, bull dogging, being a PaPa, & Dad. Richard was an excellent truck driver. He one several awards for safety from the United States President. Richard was a great storyteller, he loved his roping buddies dearly.

Brothers: Mickey Smith & wife Judy of Albuquerque, New Mexico
Donnie Johnson & wife Naomi of Huffman, Texas
Sister: Marty Johnson & husband Ted Gastineau of Ravia, Oklahoma
Grandchildren: Jacoby Adkins

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 18, 2017 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church of Willis where Richard was a member with Reverend Jerry Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Willis Cemetery. Serving as casket escorts will be Nick Jaramillo, Pyne Gregory, Callen Culwell, Colby Culwell, John Melton, Jacoby Adkins, Jake Campbell, & Dusty Culwell. Serving as honorary casket escorts will be Steve Buckaloo, Robby Henry, George Nabors, Mickey Smith, Don Johnson, & Donnie Craig.
Services are being held under the direction & care of Tishomingo Funeral Home.
