Sam “Mick” Coffey was born on January, 28th, 1926 in Ravia, Oklahoma to the late Nettie Lou (Jones) Coffey and Pat Coffey.  He passed from this life on October 10th, 2015 in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years old 8 months and 12 days.

Sam was one of nine children who began helping on the family farm at a very young age and he attended school in Ravia, Oklahoma.

Sam was a member of the United States Armed Forces and received his honorable discharge June 19th, 1954.  He served in WWII and was delegated the duty of firing cannons on the beach of New Jersey.  He went to work after the military for Lane, Texas as a water well digger and moved to Dallas, Texas in 1973.  He married Joan Dobbs on April 17th, 1981.  In 1979, Sam moved to Ravia and worked for Southern Oklahoma Disposal Authority and retired in 1990. 

Sam enjoyed the outdoors with his grandchildren, tinkering on old motors, gardening and picking up pecans.  He loved fishing, fishing and more fishing and loved to tell his fishing stories. 

Sam is survived by his son Bo Coffey and his wife Jewell of the home; his grandchildren Alysha, Jewell Means and Scott Kennedy, J.C. Coffey Jr. and Stephanie Raines all of Hennepin, Oklahoma, Amanda Leigh Ratchford and Casey of Davis, Oklahoma.

Several Great-Grandchildren, Amme Ellen, Clarity Joy, Kaylee Michelle, D’maree Jaquice, Jaycie Nicole, Jaimon Blayke, Alyana Jewell, Austin Justice, Hartleigh Jestine.

Sam is also survived by Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.  He also had several special friends who were his nurses from Carter County Home Health.

Sam was preceded in death by both his parents, both his brother’s and sister’s; Ray, Geneva, Bob, Thelma, Jestine, D.W., and Lois.  A Grandchild Alyana Jo Coffey (Twin of Alysha Means) Great Grandchild Issiah Keith, and Twins of the Means family.  

Pallbearers will be Alysha Means, Jessica Cranmore, Casey Ratchford, Jason Kite, Jessie Elliott, Eric Mattingly, Virgil Combs Jr., and Donald Combs

Honorary Pallbearers will be Stan Sewell and Randall Blakemore.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13th, 2015 at the Ravia Cemtery in Ravia, OK with the Rev. Jonathon Smith officiating; Services are under the direction of Tishomingo Funeral Home and online condolences may be made to tishomingofuneralhome.com
