Mrs. Burton passed from this life into eternity with Jesus on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Tishomingo at the age of 83. Zelma was born in Estacado, TX on August 28, 1935, to the late James Grady Carlisle and Essie Maggie (Johnson) Carlisle. She grew up in Gainesville, Texas and on January 13, 1952, Zelma married the love of her life, J.E. “Bo” Burton and to this union were born seven children. Dale, Joye, James, Brenda, David, Essie and Rosie. Zelma resided in Ravia, OK and Johnston County for the most of her life. Zelma worked as an LPN, drove the bus for Ravia Public Schools and cooked in the lunchroom. Zelma and Wanda Akins cooked meals in the lunchroom, so we always had good food at school. Zelma also worked in Snyder and Frederick as an LPN and cooked in the lunchroom at Mountain Park Public School. When Zelma was sixty-three years old she went back to school at Murray State and earned her GED. She enjoyed crocheting, watching western shows on T.V., but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
