Catherine Irene Spillers, age 69, passed away on December 24, 2023, in Sherman, Texas. She was born on June 9, 1954, in Madill, Oklahoma, to the late Curtis and Nettie Tweedy. Catherine was a loving and caring individual who touched the lives of many.
Catherine married George Spillers on May 14, 1974, in Carson, California, and together they began their life journey. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of others before her own. Catherine had a nurturing spirit and often stepped in as a mother and grandmother figure for those who lacked one.
In her earlier years, Catherine volunteered at Jamie's elementary school while she lived in California. In 1995, she moved to Oklahoma and began working at Wal-Mart in Madill. After a dedicated career, Catherine retired in 2019 and embraced the joys of life.
When not spending time with her beloved family, Catherine enjoyed solving word search puzzles, reading, and playing solitaire. These activities brought her relaxation and happiness.
Catherine will be deeply missed by her surviving loved ones, including her son August Spillers of Suffolk, Virginia, daughters Lisa Brown of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Jamie Henson of Ardmore, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Spillers of Rancho, Verdes, California, Marisa Brown of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Dean Henson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Dylan Henson of Ardmore, Oklahoma and two siblings Glenna West of Tishomingo, Oklahoma and Curtis Wayne Tweedy of Connerville, Oklahoma and numerous niece’s and nephews. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband George Spillers, her parents Curtis and Nettie Tweedy, her sister Ila Davis, her sister Elizabeth Segura, and her brother Charles Tweedy.
A funeral service will be held at Ravia Cemetery on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2 pm. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at Hartwell Funeral Home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 6 pm to 7 pm.
Catherine Irene Spillers will forever be remembered for her kind heart, selflessness, and dedication to her family. Her legacy of love and care will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
