Garry married Eunice Chaney on February 3, 1968, a union that lasted 54 years. He spent most of his working years as a welding contractor for the pipeline. Garry and his family moved to Oklahoma in 1975 where he continued his welding business and worked as a subcontractor at the refinery in Ardmore. He trained Border Collies to herd cattle and competed in competitions. Garry enjoyed riding horses, coon hunting, gardening, fishing, and he participated in treeing competitions with coonhounds. He loved working with animals and raised sheep for many years. Garry was a member of the Pipefitters Union at one time and served as a trustee on the city council for two years.
Garry was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Doyle Glidewell; sisters, Neta Adams and Faustine Beyhymer.
