Frances Ellen Boyd, 85 passed from this life on November 1, 2022 at her home in Ada, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.
Frances was born February 15, 1937 in Egypt, Oklahoma to Myrt Walton and Helen (Shico) Walton and was a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation.
She spent most of her life living in Texas and Oklahoma. She later met and married Perry Boyd, a union that lasted until his death. Frances worked as a factory worker for Georgia Pacific in Garland, Tx. She was also employed as a daycare worker for the church at one time.
Frances loved telling stories and it was often difficult to keep her on task because she always had a story to tell. She was a very witty person and always had a "come back" you wouldn't expect. When she was a young girl, Frances was chosen to be honorary Chickasaw Princess. She attended Chilocco Indian School in Newkirk, Oklahoma. As a teenager she wrote poems and songs. One of her poems was read on the radio. As a teenage girl, this was such an honor.
Frances loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be dearly missed by all of them.
She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Perry Boyd; daughter, Carolyn Patrick brothers, Bob Walton, Tom Walton, Johnny Green, Myrt Walton, and Jackie Walton; and sister, Galela Walton.
Frances is survived by son, Wayne Willis and wife, Tammy of Ada; sisters, Carolyn Herrington and Sue Rose; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services to honor Frances' life will be Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the Minnie Hartwell Memorial Chapel in Hartwell Funeral Home at two o'clock p.m. with Reverend Allen Beck officiating. A committal service will follow at Condon Grove Cemetery in Milburn. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 - 8 p.m.
