Fred Eugene Melton stepped into heaven on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 30, 1948 in Ringling, Oklahoma to the late Jessie Lee Melton and Mary Lena (Johnson) Melton.
Fred was in the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam conflict. In 2000, he and his two youngest children moved to Mannsville, Oklahoma from Walters, Oklahoma where he lived out the remainder of his life. Before retiring, Fred spent his working years as a truck driver.
Fred was an avid outdoorsman. During deer hunting season, he could be found on his best friend's property hunting for the "big one." His son and daughter would join him and spend time together hunting. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. When it wasn't deer season, he would be out on the water wetting a line somewhere. He enjoyed fishing with friends and family as well. He and his best friend, Roger would go out on the pontoon boat that Fred named, "The Old Nag" and fish on various lakes in the area. Fred was the captain of The Old Nag and took them on many adventurous journeys. To Fred, family, hunting, and fishing were his life.
Fred was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Oscar Howard Melton and Howard Lee Melton; sisters, Ruby Marlene Rankins and Janice Ruth Penrod.
He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, sons, Mackenzi Melton and girlfriend, Amber of Tishomingo, Brennon Fica of Lawton, Bruce Fica and wife, Tina of Blanchard, Teddy Melton and wife, Alisha of Houston, and Scott Melton of Duncan; daughter, Kaytelynn Smith and husband, Kyle of Mannsville; brother, Wilford Thomas Melton and wife Pat of Bray; sisters, Wanda Lou Newman of Duncan, Sarah Alice Denham of Marlow, and Carolyn Lavanna Denham of Tulsa; grandchildren, Trevor, Hailey, Jaxon Melton, Scotty Jr. Perry, Evan Lucas Melton, Kobi Imotichey, Creeden Rowe Forest Melton, Paislee and Parker Smith, Breanna and Justin Fica, Bruce Jr. and Bryce Fica; great-grandchildren, Carter and Haylynn Perry and Travis Melton.
