Services for Stephen Harold Blankenship of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at the First Church of the Nazarene in Tishomingo, Oklahoma with Bro. Dwight Campbell, Brent Smith, and Mark Blankenship officiating.  Stephen was born March 10, 1960 in Enid, Oklahoma to Harold and Doris (Ray) Blankenship.  He stepped into his heavenly home Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Mercy Hospital in Tishomingo at the age of 59 years, 9 months, and 24 days.  

With Stephen's father being a preacher, he lived in many different places as he was growing up.  He spent most of his adult life in the Tishomingo area.  Stephen graduated high school in Fairborn, Ohio.  After high school, he attended and graduated from Southern Nazarene University and from there went on to receive his master’s degree in history from Oklahoma State University.   He worked as a social worker for the Department of Human Services until his retirement in 2015.  Stephen was a member of the Muscular Distrophy Association.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a great love for photography.  Stephen was very active in his church and enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School and Caravans.  Stephen was also involved in Straight Shooters which was founded by his grandfather and he had a fondness for Camp Bond.  He was also honored by being chosen to participate in the Wildlife Refuge Handicap Hunt.  He was also a faithful member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant, Oklahoma.  Stephen married the love of his life, Pamela Phillips on January 1, 2007.

Stephen was preceded in death by grandparents, C. and Anna Ray and his sister in law, Karen Blankenship.

Survivors include his wife Pamela (Phillips) Blankenship of the home; a son, Charles Wriston of the home; parents, Harold and Doris Blankenship; brother, Mark Blankenship of New York; two sisters, Janice Dickerson and husband Gary of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Annette Rustin and husband Stuart of Durant, Oklahoma. He is also survived by many nieces and great-nieces and a host of other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Durant First Church of the Nazarene building fund or to Camp Bond.

Services are under the direction of Tishomingo Funeral Home.
