Thomas "Tom" Martin Hinchey, 66, of Troy passed from this life on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at The Physician's Hospital in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Tom was born March 28, 1956, in Sulphur, OK to the late Bob Hinchey and Naomi Doris (Caraway) Hinchey. He was raised and spent most of his life in Johnston County.
Tom majored in Forestry and his first job was a maintenance position at Oklahoma State University in the Forestry Department. He enjoyed forestry and became extremely knowledgeable of trees. He also spent around 16 years working for the Department of Transportation and as a hot shot truck driver. Tom was a Medical Officer for the for the Johnston County Sheriff's Office until his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing. Tom enjoyed tinkering with woodworking and working on cars. If it was outside enjoying nature, Tom was sure to be there. Although Tom never had any children of his own, he enjoyed his nieces and nephews just the same. He loved spending time with them and would take them fishing with him. He was fun to be around and they enjoyed it just as much as he did. Tom will be dearly missed by his family as well as numerous friends.
Tom was preceded in death by both parents.
He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, sister, Matha Vaughn of Kilgore, TX; brothers, Bob Hinchey of Bennington, OK and Sam Hinchey of Quinlan, TX.
He also leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services to honor Tom's life will be Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11 am in Troy Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
