Since I now live in Virginia, I just heard about this from my sister in Texas. Jeff was a great friend and also a great guy. We had so many adventures in high school, often involving cutting out after fourth period our last semester at BHS. He was a dedicated football player and a honest and true friend. I am glad to hear he had a good life in Oklahoma and was surrounded by friends and family. His dad and my dad worked together a lot in the local baseball program and Winston could cook a mean brisket that he always shared with us boys. We fished, hunted and swam at the lake. Brownwood was a great place to grow up and Jeff was a great friend to share that experience with. He will be missed by me and others. I hope Jim, John and his mother will be comforted by the thoughts and prayers of his old friends from Brownwood.

I was so shocked to hear of Jeff's passing. While we haven't been in contact in 2 or 3 years, I always felt a strong connection to him. We first met in 4th. grade at Woodland Hts. Elementary. We played basketball together there. We were also in Boy Scout Troop 14 together. Then through High School as well. We kept up through e-mail and Facebook until recently. I love you Jeff. Hope to see you on the other side.

To those who know me, I do not have a large circle of friends. Jeff was one of those "friends" I let in. He was my room mate, coworker and brother and will miss him a lot. Condolences to Jeff's family and may God's peace with you all.

I have been wrestling with the loss of a longtime friend since I learned of his passing last week. When my family moved to the Brownwood area in the summer of 1972, new friendships had to be forged. One was forged between Jeff and me. Years could pass between our visits and when we connected, it was like we had talked just yesterday. How I wish there would be another phone call, another visit or another group camping trip. Jeff was not a good guy, he was a great one. To Mrs. Combes, Jim and John, my heartfelt condolences for this loss to your family.

I worked with Jeff while I was on the HEB reset team. Was always very relaxing to strike up a conversation with him. Always would come up with funny jokes and stories from back in the day. Would always tell me family comes first when I had to call in or take time off due to family related issues. He will be missed greatly. Will drink a diet cherry dr. pepper for you man. I wish I lived closer to Tishomingo to attend his services. "Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest" - Matthew 11:28.
